commit a9fb41b5def8e1e0103d5fd1453787993587281e upstream.

Preserve the I/O register bits in __ast_write8_i_masked() as specified
by preserve_mask. Accidentally OR-ing the output value into these will
overwrite the register's previous settings.

Fixes display output on the AST2300, where the screen can go blank at
boot. The driver's original commit 312fec1405dd ("drm: Initial KMS
driver for AST (ASpeed Technologies) 2000 series (v2)") already added
the broken code. Commit 6f719373b943 ("drm/ast: Blank with VGACR17 sync
enable, always clear VGACRB6 sync off") triggered the bug.

commit 7cce65f3789e04c0f7668a66563e680d81d54493 upstream.

The ast driver protects the commit tail against concurrent reads
of the display modes by acquiring a lock. The comment is misleading
as the lock is not released in atomic_flush, but at the end of the
commit-tail helper. Rewrite the comment.

[ Upstream commit c81202906b5cd56db403e95db3d29c9dfc8c74c1 ]

The ast driver looks up supplied display modes from an internal list of
display modes supported by the VBIOS.

Do not use the crtc_-prefixed display values from struct drm_display_mode
for looking up the VBIOS mode. The fields contain raw values that the
driver programs to hardware. They are affected by display settings like
double-scan or interlace.

Instead use the regular vdisplay and hdisplay fields for lookup. As the
programmed values can now differ from the values used for lookup, set
struct drm_display_mode.crtc_vdisplay and .crtc_hdisplay from the VBIOS
mode.

commit c28f72c6ca98e039c2aa5aac6752c416bc31dbab upstream.

ast_dp_is_connected() used to also check for link training success
to report the DP connector as connected. Without this check, the
physical_status is always connected. So if no monitor is present, it
will fail to read the EDID and set the default resolution to 640x480
instead of 1024x768.

Pull pci updates from Bjorn Helgaas:
"Enumeration:

   - Wait for device readiness after reset by polling Vendor ID and
looking for Configuration RRS instead of polling the Command
register and looking for non-error completions, to avoid hardware
retries done for RRS on non-Vendor ID reads (Bjorn Helgaas)

   - Rename CRS Completion Status to RRS ('Request Retry Status') to
match PCIe r6.0 spec usage (Bjorn Helgaas)

   - Clear LBMS bit after a manual link retrain so we don't try to
retrain a link when there's no downstream device anymore (Maciej W.
     Rozycki)

   - Revert to the original link speed after retraining fails instead of
leaving it restricted to 2.5GT/s, so a future device has a chance
to use higher speeds (Maciej W. Rozycki)

   - Wait for each level of downstream bus, not just the first, to
become accessible before restoring devices on that bus (Ilpo
     Järvinen)

   - Add ARCH_PCI_DEV_GROUPS so s390 can add its own attribute_groups
without having to stomp on the core's pdev->dev.groups (Lukas
     Wunner)

  Driver binding:

   - Export pcim_request_region(), a managed counterpart of
pci_request_region(), for use by drivers (Philipp Stanner)

   - Export pcim_iomap_region() and deprecate pcim_iomap_regions()
     (Philipp Stanner)

   - Request the PCI BAR used by xboxvideo (Philipp Stanner)

   - Request and map drm/ast BARs with pcim_iomap_region() (Philipp

"Enumeration:

   - Wait for device readiness after reset by polling Vendor ID and

Ast's BMC connector tracks the status of an underlying physical
connector and updates the BMC status accordingly. This functionality
works around GNOME's settings app, which cannot handle multiple
outputs on the same CRTC.

The workaround is now obsolete as all code for physical outputs
handle BMC support internally. Hence, remove the driver's code and
the BMC output entirely.

Permanently set the connector status to 'connected'. Return BMC modes
for connector if no display is attached to the physical DP connector.
Otherwise use EDID modes as before.

If the status of the physical connector changes, the driver still
generates a hotplug event. DRM clients will then reconfigure their
output to a mode appropriate for either physical display or BMC.

v3:
- use struct ast_connector.physical_status to handle BMC
