2023-04-18x86/alternatives: Do not use integer constant suffixes in inline asmWilly Tarreau1-1/+1
The usage of the BIT() macro in inline asm code was introduced in 6.3 by the commit in the Fixes tag. However, this macro uses "1UL" for integer constant suffixes in its shift operation, while gas before 2.28 does not support the "L" suffix after a number, and gas before 2.27 does not support the "U" suffix, resulting in build errors such as the following with such versions: ./arch/x86/include/asm/uaccess_64.h:124: Error: found 'L', expected: ')' ./arch/x86/include/asm/uaccess_64.h:124: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `L' However, the currently minimal binutils version the kernel supports is 2.25. There's a single use of this macro here, revert to (1 << 0) that works with such older binutils. 2023-04-17x86/hyperv: Exclude lazy TLB mode CPUs from enlightened TLB flushesMichael Kelley1-1/+10
In the case where page tables are not freed, native_flush_tlb_multi() does not do a remote TLB flush on CPUs in lazy TLB mode because the CPU will flush itself at the next context switch. By comparison, the Hyper-V enlightened TLB flush does not exclude CPUs in lazy TLB mode and so performs unnecessary flushes. If we're not freeing page tables, add logic to test for lazy TLB mode when adding CPUs to the input argument to the Hyper-V TLB flush hypercall. Exclude lazy TLB mode CPUs so the behavior matches native_flush_tlb_multi() and the unnecessary flushes are avoided. Handle both the <=64 vCPU case and the _ex case for >64 vCPUs. 2023-04-17x86/hyperv: Add callback filter to cpumask_to_vpset()Michael Kelley1-4/+8
When copying CPUs from a Linux cpumask to a Hyper-V VPset, cpumask_to_vpset() currently has a "_noself" variant that doesn't copy the current CPU to the VPset. Generalize this variant by replacing it with a "_skip" variant having a callback function that is invoked for each CPU to decide if that CPU should be copied. Update the one caller of cpumask_to_vpset_noself() to use the new "_skip" variant instead. No functional change. 2023-04-17PCI: hv: Enable PCI pass-thru devices in Confidential VMsMichael Kelley1-0/+3
For PCI pass-thru devices in a Confidential VM, Hyper-V requires that PCI config space be accessed via hypercalls. In normal VMs, config space accesses are trapped to the Hyper-V host and emulated. But in a confidential VM, the host can't access guest memory to decode the instruction for emulation, so an explicit hypercall must be used. Add functions to make the new MMIO read and MMIO write hypercalls. Update the PCI config space access functions to use the hypercalls when such use is indicated by Hyper-V flags. Also, set the flag to allow the Hyper-V PCI driver to be loaded and used in a Confidential VM (a.k.a., "Isolation VM"). The driver has previously been hardened against a malicious Hyper-V host[1]. 2023-04-17Drivers: hv: Don't remap addresses that are above shared_gpa_boundaryMichael Kelley1-2/+5
With the vTOM bit now treated as a protection flag and not part of the physical address, avoid remapping physical addresses with vTOM set since technically such addresses aren't valid. Use ioremap_cache() instead of memremap() to ensure that the mapping provides decrypted access, which will correctly set the vTOM bit as a protection flag. While this change is not required for correctness with the current implementation of memremap(), for general code hygiene it's better to not depend on the mapping functions doing something reasonable with a physical address that is out-of-range. While here, fix typos in two error messages. 2023-04-17hv_netvsc: Remove second mapping of send and recv buffersMichael Kelley1-28/+0
With changes to how Hyper-V guest VMs flip memory between private (encrypted) and shared (decrypted), creating a second kernel virtual mapping for shared memory is no longer necessary. Everything needed for the transition to shared is handled by set_memory_decrypted(). As such, remove the code to create and manage the second mapping for the pre-allocated send and recv buffers. This mapping is the last user of hv_map_memory()/hv_unmap_memory(), so delete these functions as well. Finally, hv_map_memory() is the last user of vmap_pfn() in Hyper-V guest code, so remove the Kconfig selection of VMAP_PFN. set_rtc_noop(), get_rtc_noop() are after booting, therefore their __init annotation is wrong. A crash was observed on an x86 platform where CMOS RTC is unused and disabled via device tree. set_rtc_noop() was invoked from ntp: sync_hw_clock(), although CONFIG_RTC_SYSTOHC=n, however sync_cmos_clock() doesn't honour that. 2023-04-12x86/ioapic: Don't return 0 from arch_dynirq_lower_bound()Saurabh Sengar1-5/+9
arch_dynirq_lower_bound() is invoked by the core interrupt code to retrieve the lowest possible Linux interrupt number for dynamically allocated interrupts like MSI. The x86 implementation uses this to exclude the IO/APIC GSI space. This works correctly as long as there is an IO/APIC registered, but returns 0 if not. This has been observed in VMs where the BIOS does not advertise an IO/APIC. 0 is an invalid interrupt number except for the legacy timer interrupt on x86. The return value is unchecked in the core code, so it ends up to allocate interrupt number 0 which is subsequently considered to be invalid by the caller, e.g. the MSI allocation code. The function has already a check for 0 in the case that an IO/APIC is registered, as ioapic_dynirq_base is 0 in case of device tree setups. Consolidate this and zero check for both ioapic_dynirq_base and gsi_top, which is used in the case that no IO/APIC is registered. Filter out XTILE_CFG from the supported XCR0 reported to userspace if the current process doesn't have access to XTILE_DATA. Attempting to set XTILE_CFG in XCR0 will #GP if XTILE_DATA is also not set, and so keeping XTILE_CFG as supported results in explosions if userspace feeds KVM_GET_SUPPORTED_CPUID back into KVM and the guest doesn't sanity check CPUID. Add a helper, kvm_get_filtered_xcr0(), to dedup code that needs to account for XCR0 features that require explicit opt-in on a per-process basis. In addition to documenting when KVM should/shouldn't consult xstate_get_guest_group_perm(), the helper will also allow sanitizing the filtered XCR0 to avoid enumerating architecturally illegal XCR0 values, e.g. XTILE_CFG without XTILE_DATA. 2023-04-11KVM: nVMX: Emulate NOPs in L2, and PAUSE if it's not interceptedSean Christopherson1-0/+15
Extend VMX's nested intercept logic for emulated instructions to handle "pause" interception, in quotes because KVM's emulator doesn't filter out NOPs when checking for nested intercepts. Failure to allow emulation of NOPs results in KVM injecting a #UD into L2 on any NOP that collides with the emulator's definition of PAUSE, i.e. on all single-byte NOPs. For PAUSE itself, honor L1's PAUSE-exiting control, but ignore PLE to avoid unnecessarily injecting a #UD into L2. Per the SDM, the first execution of PAUSE after VM-Entry is treated as the beginning of a new loop, i.e. will never trigger a PLE VM-Exit, and so L1 can't expect any given execution of PAUSE to deterministically exit. ... the processor considers this execution to be the first execution of PAUSE in a loop. If the guest toggles only CR0.WP and triggers emulation of a supervisor write, e.g. when KVM is emulating UMIP, KVM may consume a stale CR0.WP, i.e. use stale protection bits metadata. Note, KVM passes through CR0.WP if and only if EPT is enabled as CR0.WP is part of the MMU role for legacy shadow paging, and SVM (NPT) doesn't support per-bit interception controls for CR0. Invert the flows in intel_pmu_{g,s}et_msr()'s case statements so that they follow the kernel's preferred style of: if (<not valid>) return <error> <commit change> return <success> which is also the style used by every other {g,s}et_msr() helper (except AMD's PMU variant, which doesn't use a switch statement). Modify the "set" paths with costly side effects, i.e. that reprogram counters, to skip only the side effects, i.e. to perform reserved bits checks even if the value is unchanged. None of the reserved bits checks are expensive, so there's no strong justification for skipping them, and guarding only the side effect makes it slightly more obvious what is being skipped and why. Disallow writes to feature MSRs after KVM_RUN to prevent userspace from changing the vCPU model after running the vCPU. Similar to guest CPUID, KVM uses feature MSRs to configure intercepts, determine what operations are/aren't allowed, etc. Changing the capabilities while the vCPU is active will at best yield unpredictable guest behavior, and at worst could be dangerous to KVM. Allow writing the current value, e.g. so that userspace can blindly set all MSRs when emulating RESET, and unconditionally allow writes to MSR_IA32_UCODE_REV so that userspace can emulate patch loads. Special case the VMX MSRs to keep the generic list small, i.e. so that KVM can do a linear walk of the generic list without incurring meaningful overhead.
