2024-06-14accel/ivpu: Implement DCT handlingJacek Lawrynowicz1-1/+9
When host system is under heavy load and the NPU is already running on the lowest frequency, PUNIT may request Duty Cycle Throttling (DCT). This will further reduce NPU power usage. PUNIT requests DCT mode using Survabilty IRQ and mailbox register. The driver then issues a JSM message to the FW that enables the DCT mode. If the NPU resets while in DCT mode, the driver request DCT mode during FW boot. Also add debugfs "dct" file that allows to set arbitrary DCT percentage, which is used by driver tests. 2024-05-17accel/ivpu: Split IP and buttress codeWachowski, Karol1-7/+6
The NPU device consists of two parts: NPU buttress and NPU IP. Buttress is a platform specific part that integrates the NPU IP with the CPU. NPU IP is the platform agnostic part that does the inference. This separation enables support for multiple platforms using a single NPU IP, so for example NPU IP 37XX could be integrated into MTL and LNL platforms. 2024-05-15accel/ivpu: Share NPU busy time in sysfsTomasz Rusinowicz1-0/+2
The driver tracks the time spent by NPU executing jobs and shares it through sysfs `npu_busy_time_us` file. It can be then used by user space applications to monitor device utilization. NPU is considered 'busy' starting with a first job submitted to firmware and ending when there is no more jobs pending/executing. Implement time based Metric Streamer profiling UAPI. This is a generic mechanism allowing user mode tools to sample NPU metrics. These metrics are defined by the FW and transparent to the driver. The user space can check for this feature by checking DRM_IVPU_CAP_METRIC_STREAMER driver capability. 2024-05-15accel/ivpu: Implement support for hardware schedulerWachowski, Karol1-1/+19
Add support for HWS (hardware scheduler). It is disabled by default. The sched_mode module param can be used to enable it. Each context has multiple command queues with different priorities and HWS enables priority based execution on the HW/FW side. The driver in HWS mode has to send a couple additional messages to initialize HWS and describe command queue priorities. 2024-04-08accel/ivpu: Fix deadlock in context_xaJacek Lawrynowicz1-1/+1
ivpu_device->context_xa is locked both in kernel thread and IRQ context. It requires XA_FLAGS_LOCK_IRQ flag to be passed during initialization otherwise the lock could be acquired from a thread and interrupted by an IRQ that locks it for the second time causing the deadlock. This deadlock was reported by lockdep and observed in internal tests. 2024-01-22accel/ivpu: Dump MMU events in case of VPU boot timeoutWachowski, Karol1-0/+1
Add ivpu_mmu_evtq_dump() function that dumps existing MMU events from MMU event queue. Call this function if VPU boot failed. Previously MMU events were only checked in interrupt handler, but if VPU failed to boot due to MMU faults, those faults were missed because of interrupts not yet being enabled. This will allow checking potential fault reason of VPU not booting. ivpu_bo_remove_all_bos_from_context() could race with ivpu_bo_free() when prime buffer was closed after vpu device was closed. Move the bo_list from context to vdev and use a dedicated lock to sync it. This list is not modified when BO is added/removed from a context. Also rename ivpu_bo_free_vpu_addr() to ivpu_bo_unbind() because this function does more then just free vpu_addr. Stop job_done thread when going to suspend. Use kthread_park() instead of kthread_stop() to avoid memory allocation and potential failure on resume. Use separate function as thread wake up condition. Use spin lock to assure rx_msg_list is properly protected against concurrent access. This avoid race condition when the rx_msg_list list is modified and read in ivpu_ipc_recive() at the same time. 2023-10-30accel/ivpu: Add support for VPU_JOB_FLAGS_NULL_SUBMISSION_MASKAndrzej Kacprowski1-1/+1
Add test_mode = 3 that add VPU_JOB_FLAGS_NULL_SUBMISSION_MASK flag to the job send to the VPU device. Then the VPU will process the job but won't execute commands (except the command to signal the fence). This can be used to estimate job processing overhead in the host software and VPU firmware. Unlike the null hardware mode, the null submission mode will still work even if UMD uses VPU fences to track job completion. 2023-09-04accel/ivpu: Initialize context with SSID = 1Karol Wachowski1-1/+8
Context with SSID = 1 is reserved and accesses on that context happen only when context is uninitialized on the VPU side. Such access triggers MMU fault (0xa) "Invalid CD Fetch", which doesn't contain any useful information besides context ID. This commit will change that state, now (0x10) "Translation fault" will be triggered and accessed address will shown in the log.
