2024-07-27drm/nouveau: remove push pointer from nouveau_channelBen Skeggs1-2/+2
The struct itself lives in nouveau_channel already, just use that. Signed-off-by: Ben Skeggs <bskeggs@nvidia.com> Signed-off-by: Danilo Krummrich <dakr@kernel.org> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20240726043828.58966-36-bskeggs@nvidia.com
2024-07-27drm/nouveau: remove chan->drmBen Skeggs1-3/+3
The nouveau_cli that owns the channel is now stored in nouveau_chan, and it has a pointer to the drm device already. 2024-07-22drm/nouveau: use GEM references instead of TTMsDanilo Krummrich1-1/+1
TTM wants to get rid of the duplicate refcounting of the embedded GEM object and its own reference count. Hence, use of GEM object references where possible. Also get rid of nouveau_bo_ref() and replace it with nouveau_bo_fini(), which drops the initial reference we get from initializing a ttm_bo. 2021-06-02drm/ttm: rename bo->mem and make it a pointerChristian König1-1/+1
When we want to decouble resource management from buffer management we need to be able to handle resources separately. Add a resource pointer and rename bo->mem so that all code needs to change to access the pointer instead. No functional change. 2020-12-14drm/ttm: cleanup BO size handling v3Christian König1-1/+1
Based on an idea from Dave, but cleaned up a bit. We had multiple fields for essentially the same thing. Now bo->base.size is the original size of the BO in arbitrary units, usually bytes. bo->mem.num_pages is the size in number of pages in the resource domain of bo->mem.mem_type. v2: use the GEM object size instead of the BO size v3: fix printks in some places Signed-off-by: Christian König <christian.koenig@amd.com> Reviewed-by: Huang Rui <ray.huang@amd.com> (v1) Acked-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/406831/
2020-09-11drm/nouveau: stop using TTM placement flagsChristian König1-2/+3

2020-08-12Merge drm/drm-next into drm-misc-nextThomas Zimmermann1-19/+22
Backmerging drm-next into drm-misc-next for nouveau and panel updates. Resolves a conflict between ttm and nouveau, where struct ttm_mem_res got renamed to struct ttm_resource. Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de>
2020-08-06drm/ttm: rename ttm_mem_reg to ttm_resource.Dave Airlie1-1/+1

2016-10-25dma-buf: Rename struct fence to dma_fenceChris Wilson1-1/+1
I plan to usurp the short name of struct fence for a core kernel struct, and so I need to rename the specialised fence/timeline for DMA operations to make room. A consensus was reached in https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2016-July/113083.html that making clear this fence applies to DMA operations was a good thing. Since then the patch has grown a bit as usage increases, so hopefully it remains a good thing! 2015-08-28drm/nouveau/nvif: simplify and tidy library interfacesBen Skeggs1-2/+2
A variety of tweaks to the NVIF library interfaces, mostly ripping out things that turned out to be not so useful. - Removed refcounting from nvif_object, callers are expected to not be stupid instead. - nvif_client is directly reachable from anything derived from nvif_object, removing the need for heuristics to locate it - _new() versions of interfaces, that allocate memory for the object they construct, have been removed. The vast majority of callers used the embedded _init() interfaces. - No longer storing constructor arguments (and the data returned from nvkm) inside nvif_object, it's more or less unused and just wastes memory. 2014-12-02drm/nouveau: teach nouveau_bo_pin() how to force a contig vram allocationBen Skeggs1-1/+1
We have the ability to move buffers around in the kernel if necessary, and should probably use it rather than failing if userspace passes us a non-contig buffer for a plane. The NOUVEAU_GEM_TILE_NONCONTIG flag from userspace will become a mere initial placement hint once all the relevant paths have been updated. Signed-off-by: Ben Skeggs <bskeggs@redhat.com>
