commit a0b96b4a62745397aee662670cfc2157bac03f55 upstream. syzbot reported memory leak in peak_usb. The problem was in case of failure after calling ->dev_init()[2] in peak_usb_create_dev()[1]. In commit 6417f03132a6 ("module: remove never implemented MODULE_SUPPORTED_DEVICE") the MODULE_SUPPORTED_DEVICE macro was removed from the kerne entirely. Shortly before this patch was applied mainline the commit 59ec7b89ed3e ("can: peak_usb: add forgotten supported devices") was added to net/master. As this would result in a merge conflict, let's revert this patch. Especially, the can_frame cf which aliases skb memory is accessed after the peak_usb_netif_rx_ni(). Reordering the lines solves the issue. 2020-11-26can: gs_usb: fix endianess problem with candleLight firmwareMarc Kleine-Budde1-61/+70
The firmware on the original USB2CAN by Geschwister Schneider Technologie Entwicklungs- und Vertriebs UG exchanges all data between the host and the device in host byte order. This is done with the struct gs_host_config::byte_order member, which is sent first to indicate the desired byte order. The widely used open source firmware candleLight doesn't support this feature and exchanges the data in little endian byte order. This breaks if a device with candleLight firmware is used on big endianess systems. To fix this problem, all u32 (but not the struct gs_host_frame::echo_id, which is a transparent cookie) are converted to __le32. 2020-11-15can: peak_usb: fix potential integer overflow on shift of a intColin Ian King1-2/+2
The left shift of int 32 bit integer constant 1 is evaluated using 32 bit arithmetic and then assigned to a signed 64 bit variable. In the case where time_ref->adapter->ts_used_bits is 32 or more this can lead to an oveflow. Avoid this by shifting using the BIT_ULL macro instead. Fabian Inostroza <fabianinostrozap@gmail.com> has discovered a potential problem in the hardware timestamp reporting from the PCAN-USB USB CAN interface (only), related to the fact that a timestamp of an event may precede the timestamp used for synchronization when both records are part of the same USB packet. However, this case was used to detect the wrapping of the time counter. This patch details and fixes the two identified cases where this problem can occur. These values come from skb->data so Smatch considers them untrusted. I believe Smatch is correct but I don't have a way to test this. The usb_if->dev[] array has 2 elements but the index is in the 0-15 range without checks. The cfd->len can be up to 255 but the maximum valid size is CANFD_MAX_DLEN (64) so that could lead to memory corruption. 2020-09-21can: pcan_usb: add support of rxerr/txerr countersStephane Grosjean1-16/+117
This patch adds the support of the rx/tx errors CAN counters to the driver of the PCAN-USB PC-CAN interface from PEAK-System GmbH. The PCAN-USB is capable of giving back the values of the rx/tx errors counters, to provide more details and statistics to the linux-can layer. Getting these values allows the driver to better tune CAN_ERR_CRTL_TX_xxx and CAN_ERR_CRTL_RX_xxx bits in case of the interface enters any CAN_STATE_ERROR_xxx state. While the state changes are reported when the error counters increase and decrease, there is no event when the bus recovers and the error counters decrease again. So add those as well. Change the state going downward to be ERROR_PASSIVE -> ERROR_WARNING -> ERROR_ACTIVE instead of directly to ERROR_ACTIVE again. 2019-11-04can: peak_usb: fix a potential out-of-sync while decoding packetsStephane Grosjean1-5/+12
When decoding a buffer received from PCAN-USB, the first timestamp read in a packet is a 16-bit coded time base, and the next ones are an 8-bit offset to this base, regardless of the type of packet read. This patch corrects a potential loss of synchronization by using a timestamp index read from the buffer, rather than an index of received data packets, to determine on the sizeof the timestamp to be read from the packet being decoded. strncpy() does not ensure NULL-termination when the input string size equals to the destination buffer size IFNAMSIZ. The output string is passed to dev_info() which relies on the NULL-termination. When closing the CAN device while tx skbs are inflight, echo skb could be released twice. By calling close_candev() before unlinking all pending tx urbs, then the internal echo_skb[] array is fully and correctly cleared before the USB write callback and, therefore, can_get_echo_skb() are called, for each aborted URB. One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along with memory for some number of elements for that array. For example: struct foo { int stuff; void *entry[]; }; instance = alloc(sizeof(struct foo) + count * sizeof(void *)); Instead of leaving these open-coded and prone to type mistakes, we can now use the new struct_size() helper: instance = alloc(struct_size(instance, entry, count)); This code was detected with the help of Coccinelle.
