commit 8a7d12d674ac ("net: usb: usbnet: fix name regression") assumed
that local addresses always came from the kernel, but some devices hand
out local mac addresses so we ended up with point-to-point devices with
a mac set by the driver, renaming to eth%d when they used to be named
usb%d.
Userspace should not rely on device name, but for the sake of stability
restore the local mac address check portion of the naming exception:
point to point devices which either have no mac set by the driver or
have a local mac handed out by the driver will keep the usb%d name.
(some USB LTE modems are known to hand out a stable mac from the locally
administered range; that mac appears to be random (different for
mulitple devices) and can be reset with device-specific commands, so
while such devices would benefit from getting a OUI reserved, we have
to deal with these and might as well preserve the existing behavior
to avoid breaking fragile openwrt configurations and such on upgrade.)

The resume code path assumes that the TX queue for the offloading TID
has been configured. At resume time it then tries to sync the write
pointer as it may have been updated by the firmware.
In the unusual event that no packets have been send on TID 0, the queue
will not have been allocated and this causes a crash. Fix this by
ensuring the queue exist at suspend time.

There are a total of 96 AFL pages and each page has 16 entries with
registers CFDGAFLIDr, CFDGAFLMr, CFDGAFLP0r, CFDGAFLP1r holding
the rule entries (r = 0..15).
Currently, RCANFD_GAFL* macros use a start variable to find AFL entries,
which is incorrect as the testing on RZ/G3E shows ch1 and ch4
gets a start value of 0 and the register contents are overwritten.
Fix this issue by using rule_entry corresponding to the channel
to find the page entries in the AFL list.

When using the Qualcomm X55 modem on the ThinkPad X13s, the kernel log is
constantly being filled with errors related to a "sequence number glitch",
e.g.:

Internet connectivity is working fine, so this error seems harmless. It
looks like modem does not preserve the sequence number when entering low
power state; the amount of errors depends on how actively the modem is
being used.
A similar issue has also been seen on USB-based MBIM modems [1]. However,
in cdc_ncm.c the "sequence number glitch" message is a debug message
instead of an error. Apply the same to the mhi_wwan_mbim.c driver to
silence these errors when using the modem.

mlx5_eswitch_get_vepa returns -EPERM if the device lacks
eswitch_manager capability, blocking mlx5e_bridge_getlink from
retrieving VEPA mode. Since mlx5e_bridge_getlink implements
ndo_bridge_getlink, returning -EPERM causes bridge link show to fail
instead of skipping devices without this capability.
To avoid this, return -EOPNOTSUPP from mlx5e_bridge_getlink when
mlx5_eswitch_get_vepa fails, ensuring the command continues processing
other devices while ignoring those without the necessary capability.

When removing LAG device from bridge, NETDEV_CHANGEUPPER event is
triggered. Driver finds the lower devices (PFs) to flush all the
offloaded entries. And mlx5_lag_is_shared_fdb is checked, it returns
false if one of PF is unloaded. In such case,
mlx5_esw_bridge_lag_rep_get() and its caller return NULL, instead of
the alive PF, and the flush is skipped.
Besides, the bridge fdb entry's lastuse is updated in mlx5 bridge
event handler. But this SWITCHDEV_FDB_ADD_TO_BRIDGE event can be
ignored in this case because the upper interface for bond is deleted,
and the entry will never be aged because lastuse is never updated.
To make things worse, as the entry is alive, mlx5 bridge workqueue
keeps sending that event, which is then handled by kernel bridge
notifier. It causes the following crash when accessing the passed bond
netdev which is already destroyed.
To fix this issue, remove such checks. LAG state is already checked in
commit 15f8f168952f ("net/mlx5: Bridge, verify LAG state when adding
bond to bridge"), driver still need to skip offload if LAG becomes
invalid state after initialization.

When validation on the backup slave is enabled, we need to validate the
Neighbor Solicitation (NS) messages received on the backup slave. To
receive these messages, the correct destination MAC address must be added
to the slave. However, the target in bonding is a unicast address, which
we cannot use directly. Instead, we should first convert it to a
Solicited-Node Multicast Address and then derive the corresponding MAC
address.
Fix the incorrect MAC address setting on both slave_set_ns_maddr() and
slave_set_ns_maddrs(). Since the two function names are similar. Add
some description for the functions. Also only use one mac_addr variable
in slave_set_ns_maddr() to save some code and logic.

The bnxt_rx_pkt() updates ip_summed value at the end if checksum offload
is enabled.
When the XDP-MB program is attached and it returns XDP_PASS, the
bnxt_xdp_build_skb() is called to update skb_shared_info.
The main purpose of bnxt_xdp_build_skb() is to update skb_shared_info,
but it updates ip_summed value too if checksum offload is enabled.
This is actually duplicate work.
When the bnxt_rx_pkt() updates ip_summed value, it checks if ip_summed
is CHECKSUM_NONE or not.
It means that ip_summed should be CHECKSUM_NONE at this moment.
But ip_summed may already be updated to CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY in the
XDP-MB-PASS path.
So the by skb_checksum_none_assert() WARNS about it.
This is duplicate work and updating ip_summed in the
bnxt_xdp_build_skb() is not needed.

In mlx5_chains_create_table(), the return value of mlx5_get_fdb_sub_ns()
and mlx5_get_flow_namespace() must be checked to prevent NULL pointer
dereferences. If either function fails, the function should log error

ATU Load operations could fail silently if there's not enough space
on the device to hold the new entry. When this happens, the symptom
depends on the unknown flood settings. If unknown multicast flood is
disabled, the multicast packets are dropped when the ATU table is
full. If unknown multicast flood is enabled, the multicast packets
will be flooded to all ports. Either way, IGMP snooping is broken
when the ATU Load operation fails silently.
Do a Read-After-Write verification after each fdb/mdb add operation
to make sure that the operation was really successful, and return
-ENOSPC otherwise.

Fix aRFS (accelerated Receive Flow Steering) structures memory leak by
adding a checker to verify if aRFS memory is already allocated while
configuring VSI. aRFS objects are allocated in two cases:
- as part of VSI initialization (at probe), and
- as part of reset handling
However, VSI reconfiguration executed during reset involves memory
allocation one more time, without prior releasing already allocated
resources. This led to the memory leak with the following signature:

The maintainer of this code repository is also the original maintainer
of the ppp driver.
As you can see the BPF program skips 2 bytes of data and then reads the
'Protocol' field to determine if it's an IP packet. Then it read the first
byte of the first 2 bytes to determine the direction.
The issue is that only the first byte indicating direction is initialized
in current ppp driver code while the second byte is not initialized.
For normal BPF programs generated by libpcap, uninitialized data won't be
used, so it's not a problem. However, for carefully crafted BPF programs,
such as those generated by syzkaller [2], which start reading from offset
0, the uninitialized data will be used and caught by KMSAN.

hclge_ptp_get_cycle returns an error

Partially revert commit b71724147e73 ("be2net: replace polling with
sleeping in the FW completion path") w.r.t mcc mutex it introduces and the
use of usleep_range. The be2net be_ndo_bridge_getlink() callback is
called with rcu_read_lock, so this code has been broken for a long time.
Both the mutex_lock and the usleep_range can cause the issue Ian Kumlien
reported[1]. The call path is:

del_vqs() frees virtqueues, therefore cfv->vq_tx pointer should be checked
for NULL before calling it, not cfv->vdev. Also the current implementation
is redundant because the pointer cfv->vdev is dereferenced before it is
checked for NULL.
Fix this by checking cfv->vq_tx for NULL instead of cfv->vdev before
calling del_vqs().

There's no guarantee here that the file is always with a
NUL-termination, so reading the string may read beyond the
end of the TLV. If that's the last TLV in the file, it can
perhaps even read beyond the end of the file buffer.
Fix that by limiting the print format to the size of the
buffer we have.

Previously, the TX header requirement for standard frames was ignored.
This requirement is a bitstring sent from the VIOS which maps to the
type of header information needed during TX. If no header information,
is needed then send subcrq direct can be used (which can be more
performant).
This bitstring was previously ignored for standard packets (AKA non LSO,
non CSO) due to the belief that the bitstring was over-cautionary. It
turns out that there are some configurations where the backing device
does need header information for transmission of standard packets. If
the information is not supplied then this causes continuous "Adapter
error" transport events. Therefore, this bitstring should be respected
and observed before considering the use of send subcrq direct.

During initialization with the vnic server, a bitstring is communicated
to the client regarding header info needed during CSO (See "VNIC
Capabilities" in PAPR). Most of the time, to be safe, vnic server
requests header info for CSO. When header info is needed, multiple TX
descriptors are required per skb; This limits the driver to use
send_subcrq_indirect instead of send_subcrq_direct.
Previously, the vnic server request for header info was ignored. This
allowed the use of send_sub_crq_direct. Transmissions were successful
because the bitstring returned by vnic server is broad and over
cautionary. It was observed that mlx backing devices could actually
transmit and handle CSO packets without the vnic server receiving
header info (despite the fact that the bitstring requested it).
There was a trust issue: The bitstring was overcautionary. This extra
precaution (requesting header info when the backing device may not use
it) comes at the cost of performance (using direct vs indirect hcalls
has a 30% delta in small packet RR transaction rate). So it has been
requested that the vnic server team tries to ensure that the bitstring
is more exact. In the meantime, disable CSO when it is possible to use
the skb in the send_subcrq_direct path. In other words, calculate the
checksum before handing the packet to FW when the packet is not
segmented and xmit_more is false.
Since the code path is only possible if the skb is non GSO and xmit_more
is false, the cost of doing checksum in the send_subcrq_direct path is
minimal. Any large segmented skb will have xmit_more set to true more
frequently and it is inexpensive to do checksumming on a small skb.
The worst-case workload would be a 9000 MTU TCP_RR test with close
to MTU sized packets (and TSO off). This allows xmit_more to be false
more frequently and open the code path up to use send_subcrq_direct.
Observing trace data (graph-time = 1) and packet rate with this workload
shows minimal performance degradation:

There is an off-by-one issue for the err_chained_bd path, it will free
one more tx_swbd than expected. But there is no such issue for the
err_map_data path. To fix this off-by-one issue and make the two error
handling consistent, the increment of 'i' and 'count' remain in sync
and enetc_unwind_tx_frame() is called for error handling.

There is an issue with one-step timestamp based on UDP/IP. The peer will
discard the sync packet because of the wrong UDP checksum. For ENETC v1,
the software needs to update the UDP checksum when updating the
originTimestamp field, so that the hardware can correctly update the UDP
checksum when updating the correction field. Otherwise, the UDP checksum
in the sync packet will be wrong.

will be used and the 'count' should be increased by 2 instead of 1.

When a DMA mapping error occurs while processing skb frags, it will free
one more tx_swbd than expected, so fix this off-by-one issue.

Syzbot reports [1] a warning in usb_submit_urb() triggered by
inconsistencies between expected and actually present endpoints
in gl620a driver. Since genelink_bind() does not properly
verify whether specified eps are in fact provided by the device,
in this case, an artificially manufactured one, one may get a
mismatch.
Fix the issue by resorting to a usbnet utility function
usbnet_get_endpoints(), usually reserved for this very problem.
Check for endpoints and return early before proceeding further if
any are missing.

Stats calculations involve a RMW to add the stat update to the existing
value. This is currently not protected by any synchronization mechanism,
so data races are possible. Add a spinlock to protect the update. The
reader side could be protected using u64_stats, but we would still need
a spinlock for the update side anyway. And we always do an update
immediately before reading the stats anyway.
