2024-06-26scsi: mpi3mr: Trigger supportRanjan Kumar1-7/+72
Add functions to process automatic diag triggers. If a condition defined in the triggers is met, the driver will call appropriate controller functions to save the diagnostic information. 2024-06-26scsi: mpi3mr: HDB allocation and posting for hardware and firmware buffersRanjan Kumar1-1/+192
To be able to debug controller problems it is beneficial to allocate and configure system/host memory buffers which can be used to capture hardware and firmware diagnostic information. Add functions required to allocate and post firmware and hardware diagnostic buffers to the controller and to set up automatic diagnostic capture triggers. Captures will be triggered under the following circumstances: 1. Firmware is in FAULT state. 2. Admin commands time out. 3. Controller reset caused due to I/O timeout Reported-by: kernel test robot <lkp@intel.com> Closes: https://lore.kernel.org/oe-kbuild-all/202405151758.7xrJz6rp-lkp@intel.com/ Co-developed-by: Sathya Prakash <sathya.prakash@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: Sathya Prakash <sathya.prakash@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: Ranjan Kumar <ranjan.kumar@broadcom.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20240626102646.14298-2-ranjan.kumar@broadcom.com Signed-off-by: Martin K. 2024-03-25scsi: mpi3mr: Clear ioctl blocking flag for an unresponsive controllerRanjan Kumar1-0/+1
The driver uses a controller-wide flag to block ioctls when a controller reset is in progress. This flag is set before controller reset is initiated and cleared after the reset has completed. 2023-12-05scsi: mpi3mr: Support for preallocation of SGL BSG data buffers part-1Chandrakanth patil1-0/+112
The driver now supports SGLs for BSG data transfer. Upon loading, the driver pre-allocates SGLs in chunks of 8k, results in a total of 256 * 8k, equal to 2MB. These pre-allocated SGLs are reserved for handling BSG commands and are deallocated during driver unload. 2023-08-07scsi: mpi3mr: Invoke soft reset upon TSU or event ack time outRanjan Kumar1-4/+4
When a timestamp update or an event acknowledgment command times out, the driver invokes the soft reset handler to recover the controller while holding a mutex lock. The soft reset handler also tries to acquire the same mutex to send initialization commands to the controller which leads to a deadlock scenario. To resolve the issue the driver will check thestatus and if this indicates the controller is operational, the driver will issue a diagnostic fault reset and exit out of the command processing function. If the controller is already faulted or asynchronously reset, then the driver will just exit the command processing function. 2023-04-02scsi: mpi3mr: Handle soft reset in progress fault code (0xF002)Ranjan Kumar1-1/+1
The driver is exiting from the fault watchdog thread if it sees the 0xF002 (Soft reset in progress) fault code. If the driver initiates the soft reset, then the driver restarts the watchdog at the end of the soft reset completion. However, if the soft reset is initiated by the firmware asynchronously, then the driver will never restart the watchdog and never re-initialize the controller after the asynchronous soft reset completion. 2023-02-21scsi: mpi3mr: Use number of bits to manage bitmap sizesShin'ichiro Kawasaki1-44/+31
To allocate bitmaps, the mpi3mr driver calculates sizes of bitmaps using byte as unit. However, bitmap helper functions assume that bitmaps are allocated using unsigned long as unit. This gap causes memory access beyond the bitmap sizes and results in "BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds". The BUG was observed at firmware download to eHBA-9600. Call trace indicated that the out-of-bounds access happened in find_first_zero_bit() called from mpi3mr_send_event_ack() for miroc->evtack_cmds_bitmap. To fix the BUG, do not use bytes to manage bitmap sizes. Instead, use number of bits, and call bitmap helper functions which take number of bits as arguments. For memory allocation, call bitmap_zalloc() instead of kzalloc() and krealloc(). For memory free, call bitmap_free() instead of kfree(). For zero clear, call bitmap_clear() instead of memset(). Remove three fields for bitmap byte sizes in struct scmd_priv which are no longer required. Replace the field dev_handle_bitmap_sz with dev_handle_bitmap_bits to keep number of bits of removepend_bitmap across resize. 2022-09-25scsi: mpi3mr: Graceful handling of surprise removal of PCIe HBASreekanth Reddy1-8/+97
Implement graceful handling of surprise or orderly removal of PCIe HBA: - Detect a hot removal of the controller at certain critical places in the driver. Early detection will help to reduce the time taken for cleaning up the hot-removed controller at the driver level. - Poll the status of the port enable issued after reset once every 5 seconds to avoid a long delay in detecting unavailable controller. 2022-08-31scsi: mpi3mr: Refresh SAS ports during soft resetSreekanth Reddy1-1/+9
Update the host's SAS ports if there is change in port id or phys. If the port id is changed, then the driver updates it. If some phys are enabled/disabled during reset, then driver updates them in STL. Check for the responding expander devices and update the device handle if it got changed. Register the expander with STL if it got added during reset and unregister the expander device if it got removed during reset. When one of the values meet or exceed the controller's firmware-determined high threshold value, then the driver will divert future selective I/O to the firmware.
