2022-05-19serial: 8250_fintek: Check SER_RS485_RTS_* only with RS485Ilpo Järvinen1-4/+4
SER_RS485_RTS_ON_SEND and SER_RS485_RTS_AFTER_SEND relate to behavior within RS485 operation. The driver checks if they have the same value which is not possible to realize with the hardware. The check is taken regardless of SER_RS485_ENABLED flag and -EINVAL is returned when the check fails, which creates problems. This check makes it unnecessarily complicated to turn RS485 mode off as simple zeroed serial_rs485 struct will trigger that equal values check. In addition, the driver itself memsets its rs485 structure to zero when RS485 is disabled but if userspace would try to make an TIOCSRS485 ioctl() call with the very same struct, it would end up failing with -EINVAL which doesn't make much sense. Resolve the problem by moving the check inside SER_RS485_ENABLED block. 2021-12-15serial: 8250_fintek: Fix garbled text for consoleJi-Ze Hong (Peter Hong)1-20/+0
Commit fab8a02b73eb ("serial: 8250_fintek: Enable high speed mode on Fintek F81866") introduced support to use high baudrate with Fintek SuperIO UARTs. It'll change clocksources when the UART probed. But when user add kernel parameter "console=ttyS0,115200 console=tty0" to make the UART as console output, the console will output garbled text after the following kernel message. [ 3.681188] Serial: 8250/16550 driver, 32 ports, IRQ sharing enabled The issue is occurs in following step: probe_setup_port() -> fintek_8250_goto_highspeed() It change clocksource from 115200 to 921600 with wrong time, it should change clocksource in set_termios() not in probed. 2017-11-08tty: serial: Remove redundant license textGreg Kroah-Hartman1-5/+0
Now that the SPDX tag is in all tty files, that identifies the license in a specific and legally-defined manner. So the extra GPL text wording can be removed as it is no longer needed at all. This is done on a quest to remove the 700+ different ways that files in the kernel describe the GPL license text. And there's unneeded stuff like the address (sometimes incorrect) for the FSF which is never needed. No copyright headers or other non-license-description text was removed. 2017-11-08tty: add SPDX identifiers to all remaining files in drivers/tty/Greg Kroah-Hartman1-0/+1
It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to audit the kernel tree for correct licenses. Update the drivers/tty files files with the correct SPDX license identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This work is based on a script and data from Thomas Gleixner, Philippe Ombredanne, and Kate Stewart. 2017-11-04serial: 8250_fintek: Fix rs485 disablement on invalid ioctl()Lukas Wunner1-1/+1
This driver's ->rs485_config callback checks if SER_RS485_RTS_ON_SEND and SER_RS485_RTS_AFTER_SEND have the same value. If they do, it means the user has passed in invalid data with the TIOCSRS485 ioctl() since RTS must have a different polarity when sending and when not sending. In this case, rs485 mode is not enabled (the RS485_URA bit is not set in the RS485 Enable Register) and this is supposed to be signaled back to the user by clearing the SER_RS485_ENABLED bit in struct serial_rs485 ... except a missing tilde character is preventing that from happening. 2016-08-188250/fintek: rename IRQ_MODE macroArnd Bergmann1-2/+2
A bugfix for the fintek driver required defining some macros, but one of them clashes with a system header on ARM: drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_fintek.c:34:0: error: "IRQ_MODE" redefined [-Werror] #define IRQ_MODE 0x70 In file included from /git/arm-soc/arch/arm/include/asm/ptrace.h:13:0, from /git/arm-soc/arch/arm/include/asm/irqflags.h:6, from /git/arm-soc/include/linux/irqflags.h:15, from /git/arm-soc/arch/arm/include/asm/bitops.h:27, from /git/arm-soc/include/linux/bitops.h:36, from /git/arm-soc/include/linux/kernel.h:10, from /git/arm-soc/include/linux/list.h:8, from /git/arm-soc/include/linux/module.h:9, from /git/arm-soc/drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_fintek.c:11: arch/arm/include/uapi/asm/ptrace.h:55:0: note: this is the location of the previous definition This renames the newly introduced 'IRQ_MODE' macro to FINTEK_IRQ_MODE. Some BIOS only use _OSI("Linux") to distinguish between Linux & Windows. Apply Level/Low to UART trigger mode if Windows, Edge/High mode otherwise. But since 2.6.23 the mainline kernel no longer returns true for _OSI(“Linux”). The default IRQ0~15 trigger mode in Linux is Edge/High mode without ACPI MADT override. It mismatches IRQ mode and makes UART malfunctional on such motherboard. This patch will check the current IRQ mode and apply correct mode to UART. 2016-04-30serial: 8250: Integrate Fintek into 8250_baseRicardo Ribalda Delgado1-102/+16
The 8250_fintek driver advertises as the PNP0501 driver; however this conflicts with the standard 16550A uart PNP0501. The conflict causes the 8250_fintek driver to load with _every_ PNP0501, but never probe, and causing the entire 8250 driver stack to unload if the 8250_fintek driver is unloaded (modprobe doesn't know that 8250_pnp rather than 8250_fintek claimed the resource). This patch merges the Fintek driver into 8250_base. On autoconfig_16550 the device is probed to verify if it is a FINTEK device or not. This custom probing can be disabled completely via configuration. When a Fintek device is not probed it will behave as a standard 16550A device, with no RS485 capabilities.
