2023-03-21usb: ftdi-elan: Delete driverUwe Kleine-König3-2801/+0
This driver didn't see real maintainance since several years. It has several trivial issues (check $(scripts/checkpatch.pl -f drivers/usb/misc/ftdi-elan.c)) and some harder ones (difficult locking, explict kref handling, ...). Also today it's hard to find hardware to make actually use of such a card and I suspect the driver is completely unused. So remove it. This driver got its last actual change in 2006 and is probably unused as nowbody should use a cardbus to USB adapter any more. If it were still used, the driver was in urgent need for maintainer love. (Explicit kref handling, underdocumented locking, .remove() can return errors ...) Also the link in the (now removed) help text doesn't look actively maintained. According to archive.org it forwarded to http://www.copenhagen-hotel.net/ already back in 2018. So don't waste more time on this driver and just delete it. 2023-03-17wwan: core: Support slicing in port TX flow of WWAN subsystemhaozhe chang1-1/+2
wwan_port_fops_write inputs the SKB parameter to the TX callback of the WWAN device driver. However, the WWAN device (e.g., t7xx) may have an MTU less than the size of SKB, causing the TX buffer to be sliced and copied once more in the WWAN device driver. This patch implements the slicing in the WWAN subsystem and gives the WWAN devices driver the option to slice(by frag_len) or not. By doing so, the additional memory copy is reduced. Meanwhile, this patch gives WWAN devices driver the option to reserve headroom in fragments for the device-specific metadata. Refactor code to simplify adding support for USB3803 and bypass mode. Remove static usb3503_reset() and move it to usb3503_switch_mode(), with the addition of the bypass mode we need to drive the various control signals to the expected configuration, not just to assert/release the reset. In addition to that the usb3503_connect() needs to be called only for HUB mode. No functional changes expected nor intended because of this change. 2023-03-09usb: dwc2: drd: fix inconsistent mode if role-switch-default-mode="host"Ziyang Huang1-1/+2
Some boards might use USB-A female connector for USB ports, however, the port could be connected to a dual-mode USB controller, making it also behaves as a peripheral device if male-to-male cable is connected. In this case, the dts looks like this: &usb0 { status = "okay"; dr_mode = "otg"; usb-role-switch; role-switch-default-mode = "host"; }; After boot, dwc2_ovr_init() sets GOTGCTL to GOTGCTL_AVALOVAL and call dwc2_force_mode() with parameter host=false, which causes inconsistent mode - The hardware is in peripheral mode while the kernel status is in host mode. What we can do now is to call dwc2_drd_role_sw_set() to switch to device mode, and everything should work just fine now, even switching back to none(default) mode afterwards. 2023-03-09usb: gadget: f_fs: Fix incorrect version checking of OS descsYuta Hayama1-2/+5
Currently, the USB gadget framework supports only version 1.0 of the MS OS descriptor. OS desc has a field bcdVersion indicating its version, with v1.0 represented by the value 0x100. However, __ffs_do_os_desc_header() was expecting the incorrect value 0x1, so allow the correct value 0x100. The bcdVersion field of the descriptor that is actually sent to the host is set by composite_setup() (in composite.c) to the fixed value 0x100. Therefore, it can be understood that __ffs_do_os_desc_header() is only performing a format check of the OS desc passed to functionfs. If a value other than 0x100 is accepted, there is no effect on communication over the USB bus. Indeed, until now __ffs_do_os_desc_header() has only accepted the incorrect value 0x1, but there was no problem with the communication over the USB bus. However, this can be confusing for functionfs userspace drivers. Since bcdVersion=0x100 is used in actual communication, functionfs should accept the value 0x100. Note that the correct value for bcdVersion in OS desc v1.0 is 0x100, but to avoid breaking old userspace drivers, the value 0x1 is also accepted as an exception. At this time, a message is output to notify the user to fix the userspace driver. Currently we process the suspend interrupt event only if the device is in configured state. Consider a case where device is not configured and got suspend interrupt, in that case our gadget will still use 100mA as composite_suspend didn't happen. But battery charging specification (BC1.2) expects a downstream device to draw less than 2.5mA when unconnected OR suspended. Fix this by removing the condition for processing suspend event, and thus composite_resume would set vbus draw to 2. Added 'snps,ulpi-ext-vbus-drv' a DT property to configure the USB2 PHY to drive VBUS with an external supply, by setting the USB2 PHY ULPIEXTVBUSDRV bit[:17] of the GUSB2PHYCFG register to drive VBUS with an external supply.
