2024-05-23net: Add additional bit to support clockid_t timestamp typeAbhishek Chauhan1-1/+1
tstamp_type is now set based on actual clockid_t compressed into 2 bits. To make the design scalable for future needs this commit bring in the change to extend the tstamp_type:1 to tstamp_type:2 to support other clockid_t timestamp. We now support CLOCK_TAI as part of tstamp_type as part of this commit with existing support CLOCK_MONOTONIC and CLOCK_REALTIME. 2024-05-02ipv4: Fix uninit-value access in __ip_make_skb()Shigeru Yoshida1-0/+3
KMSAN reported uninit-value access in __ip_make_skb() [1]. __ip_make_skb() tests HDRINCL to know if the skb has icmphdr. However, HDRINCL can cause a race condition. If calling setsockopt(2) with IP_HDRINCL changes HDRINCL while __ip_make_skb() is running, the function will access icmphdr in the skb even if it is not included. This causes the issue reported by KMSAN. Check FLOWI_FLAG_KNOWN_NH on fl4->flowi4_flags instead of testing HDRINCL on the socket. Also, fl4->fl4_icmp_type and fl4->fl4_icmp_code are not initialized. These are union in struct flowi4 and are implicitly initialized by flowi4_init_output(), but we should not rely on specific union layout. Initialize these explicitly in raw_sendmsg(). 2024-03-19ipv4: raw: Fix sending packets from raw sockets via IPsec tunnelsTobias Brunner1-0/+1
Since the referenced commit, the xfrm_inner_extract_output() function uses the protocol field to determine the address family. So not setting it for IPv4 raw sockets meant that such packets couldn't be tunneled via IPsec anymore. IPv6 raw sockets are not affected as they already set the protocol since 9c9c9ad5fae7 ("ipv6: set skb->protocol on tcp, raw and ip6_append_data genereated skbs"). 2024-03-18Revert "net: Re-use and set mono_delivery_time bit for userspace tstamp packets"Abhishek Chauhan1-1/+0
This reverts commit 885c36e59f46375c138de18ff1692f18eff67b7f. The patch currently broke the bpf selftest test_tc_dtime because uapi field __sk_buff->tstamp_type depends on skb->mono_delivery_time which does not necessarily mean mono with the original fix as the bit was re-used for userspace timestamp as well to avoid tstamp reset in the forwarding path. To solve this we need to keep mono_delivery_time as is and introduce another bit called user_delivery_time and fall back to the initial proposal of setting the user_delivery_time bit based on sk_clockid set from userspace. 2024-03-05net: Re-use and set mono_delivery_time bit for userspace tstamp packetsAbhishek Chauhan1-0/+1
Bridge driver today has no support to forward the userspace timestamp packets and ends up resetting the timestamp. ETF qdisc checks the packet coming from userspace and encounters to be 0 thereby dropping time sensitive packets. These changes will allow userspace timestamps packets to be forwarded from the bridge to NIC drivers. Setting the same bit (mono_delivery_time) to avoid dropping of userspace tstamp packets in the forwarding path. Existing functionality of mono_delivery_time remains unaltered here, instead just extended with userspace tstamp support for bridge forwarding path. 2023-06-15net: ioctl: Use kernel memory on protocol ioctl callbacksBreno Leitao1-8/+8
Most of the ioctls to net protocols operates directly on userspace argument (arg). Usually doing get_user()/put_user() directly in the ioctl callback. This is not flexible, because it is hard to reuse these functions without passing userspace buffers. Change the "struct proto" ioctls to avoid touching userspace memory and operate on kernel buffers, i.e., all protocol's ioctl callbacks is adapted to operate on a kernel memory other than on userspace (so, no more {put,get}_user() and friends being called in the ioctl callback). This changes the "struct proto" ioctl format in the following way: int (*ioctl)(struct sock *sk, int cmd, - unsigned long arg); + int *karg); (Important to say that this patch does not touch the "struct proto_ops" protocols) So, the "karg" argument, which is passed to the ioctl callback, is a pointer allocated to kernel space memory (inside a function wrapper). This buffer (karg) may contain input argument (copied from userspace in a prep function) and it might return a value/buffer, which is copied back to userspace if necessary. There is not one-size-fits-all format (that is I am using 'may' above), but basically, there are three type of ioctls: 1) Do not read from userspace, returns a result to userspace 2) Read an input parameter from userspace, and does not return anything to userspace 3) Read an input from userspace, and return a buffer to userspace. The default case (1) (where no input parameter is given, and an "int" is returned to userspace) encompasses more than 90% of the cases, but there are two other exceptions. Here is a list of exceptions: * Protocol RAW: * cmd = SIOCGETVIFCNT: * input and output = struct sioc_vif_req * cmd = SIOCGETSGCNT * input and output = struct sioc_sg_req * Explanation: for the SIOCGETVIFCNT case, userspace passes the input argument, which is struct sioc_vif_req. Then the callback populates the struct, which is copied back to userspace. * Protocol RAW6: * cmd = SIOCGETMIFCNT_IN6 * input and output = struct sioc_mif_req6 * cmd = SIOCGETSGCNT_IN6 * input and output = struct sioc_sg_req6 * Protocol PHONET: * cmd == SIOCPNADDRESOURCE | SIOCPNDELRESOURCE * input int (4 bytes) * Nothing is copied back to userspace. For the exception cases, functions sock_sk_ioctl_inout() will copy the userspace input, and copy it back to kernel space. 2023-05-24raw: Stop using RTO_ONLINK.Guillaume Nault1-6/+4
Use ip_sendmsg_scope() to properly initialise the scope in flowi4_init_output(), instead of overriding tos with the RTO_ONLINK flag. The objective is to eventually remove RTO_ONLINK, which will allow converting .flowi4_tos to dscp_t. The MSG_DONTROUTE and SOCK_LOCALROUTE cases were already handled by raw_sendmsg() (SOCK_LOCALROUTE was handled by the RT_CONN_FLAGS*() macros called by get_rtconn_flags()). However, opt.is_strictroute wasn't taken into account. Therefore, a side effect of this patch is to now honour opt.is_strictroute, and thus align raw_sendmsg() with ping_v4_sendmsg() and udp_sendmsg(). Since raw_sendmsg() was the only user of get_rtconn_flags(), we can now remove this function. 2023-05-23ipv{4,6}/raw: fix output xfrm lookup wrt protocolNicolas Dichtel1-1/+4
With a raw socket bound to IPPROTO_RAW (ie with hdrincl enabled), the protocol field of the flow structure, build by raw_sendmsg() / rawv6_sendmsg()), is set to IPPROTO_RAW. This breaks the ipsec policy lookup when some policies are defined with a protocol in the selector. For ipv6, the sin6_port field from 'struct sockaddr_in6' could be used to specify the protocol. Just accept all values for IPPROTO_RAW socket. For ipv4, the sin_port field of 'struct sockaddr_in' could not be used without breaking backward compatibility (the value of this field was never checked). Let's add a new kind of control message, so that the userland could specify which protocol is used. 2023-04-04raw: Fix NULL deref in raw_get_next().Kuniyuki Iwashima1-17/+19
Dae R. Jeong reported a NULL deref in raw_get_next() [0]. It seems that the repro was running these sequences in parallel so that one thread was iterating on a socket that was being freed in another netns. unshare(0x40060200) r0 = syz_open_procfs(0x0, &(0x7f0000002080)='net/raw\x00') socket$inet_icmp_raw(0x2, 0x3, 0x1) pread64(r0, &(0x7f0000000000)=""/10, 0xa, 0x10000000007f) After commit 0daf07e52709 ("raw: convert raw sockets to RCU"), we use RCU and hlist_nulls_for_each_entry() to iterate over SOCK_RAW sockets. However, we should use spinlock for slow paths to avoid the NULL deref. Also, SOCK_RAW does not use SLAB_TYPESAFE_BY_RCU, and the slab object is not reused during iteration in the grace period. In fact, the lockless readers do not check the nulls marker with get_nulls_value(). So, SOCK_RAW should use hlist instead of hlist_nulls. Instead of adding an unnecessary barrier by sk_nulls_for_each_rcu(), let's convert hlist_nulls to hlist and use sk_for_each_rcu() for fast paths and sk_for_each() and spinlock for /proc/net/raw. 2022-04-12net: remove noblock parameter from recvmsg() entitiesOliver Hartkopp1-2/+1
The internal recvmsg() functions have two parameters 'flags' and 'noblock' that were merged inside skb_recv_datagram(). As a follow up patch to commit f4b41f062c42 ("net: remove noblock parameter from skb_recv_datagram()") this patch removes the separate 'noblock' parameter for recvmsg(). Analogue to the referenced patch for skb_recv_datagram() the 'flags' and 'noblock' parameters are unnecessarily split up with e.g. err = sk->sk_prot->recvmsg(sk, msg, size, flags & MSG_DONTWAIT, flags & ~MSG_DONTWAIT, &addr_len); or in err = INDIRECT_CALL_2(sk->sk_prot->recvmsg, tcp_recvmsg, udp_recvmsg, sk, msg, size, flags & MSG_DONTWAIT, flags & ~MSG_DONTWAIT, &addr_len); instead of simply using only flags all the time and check for MSG_DONTWAIT where needed (to preserve for the formerly separated no(n)block condition). 2022-04-06net: remove noblock parameter from skb_recv_datagram()Oliver Hartkopp1-1/+2
skb_recv_datagram() has two parameters 'flags' and 'noblock' that are merged inside skb_recv_datagram() by 'flags | (noblock ? MSG_DONTWAIT : 0)' As 'flags' may contain MSG_DONTWAIT as value most callers split the 'flags' into 'flags' and 'noblock' with finally obsolete bit operations like this: skb_recv_datagram(sk, flags & ~MSG_DONTWAIT, flags & MSG_DONTWAIT, &rc); And this is not even done consistently with the 'flags' parameter. This patch removes the obsolete and costly splitting into two parameters and only performs bit operations when really needed on the caller side. 2021-11-17ipv4/raw: support binding to nonlocal addressesRiccardo Paolo Bestetti1-6/+7
Add support to inet v4 raw sockets for binding to nonlocal addresses through the IP_FREEBIND and IP_TRANSPARENT socket options, as well as the ipv4.ip_nonlocal_bind kernel parameter. Add helper function to inet_sock.h to check for bind address validity on the base of the address type and whether nonlocal address are enabled for the socket via any of the sockopts/sysctl, deduplicating checks in ipv4/ping.c, ipv4/af_inet.c, ipv6/af_inet6.c (for mapped v4->v6 addresses), and ipv4/raw.c. Add test cases with IP[V6]_FREEBIND verifying that both v4 and v6 raw sockets support binding to nonlocal addresses after the change. Add necessary support for the test cases to nettest. 2021-11-16net: drop nopreempt requirement on sock_prot_inuse_add()Eric Dumazet1-1/+1
This is distracting really, let's make this simpler, because many callers had to take care of this by themselves, even if on x86 this adds more code than really needed. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2021-06-29net: sock: introduce sk_error_reportAlexander Aring1-2/+2
This patch introduces a function wrapper to call the sk_error_report callback. That will prepare to add additional handling whenever sk_error_report is called, for example to trace socket errors. 2020-11-23lsm,selinux: pass flowi_common instead of flowi to the LSM hooksPaul Moore1-1/+1
As pointed out by Herbert in a recent related patch, the LSM hooks do not have the necessary address family information to use the flowi struct safely. As none of the LSMs currently use any of the protocol specific flowi information, replace the flowi pointers with pointers to the address family independent flowi_common struct. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net-next Pull networking updates from Jakub Kicinski: - Add redirect_neigh() BPF packet redirect helper, allowing to limit stack traversal in common container configs and improving TCP back-pressure. Daniel reports ~10Gbps => ~15Gbps single stream TCP performance gain. - Expand netlink policy support and improve policy export to user space. (Ge)netlink core performs request validation according to declared policies. Expand the expressiveness of those policies (min/max length and bitmasks). Allow dumping policies for particular commands. This is used for feature discovery by user space (instead of kernel version parsing or trial and error). - Support IGMPv3/MLDv2 multicast listener discovery protocols in bridge. - Allow more than 255 IPv4 multicast interfaces. - Add support for Type of Service (ToS) reflection in SYN/SYN-ACK packets of TCPv6. - In Multi-patch TCP (MPTCP) support concurrent transmission of data on multiple subflows in a load balancing scenario. Enhance advertising addresses via the RM_ADDR/ADD_ADDR options. - Support SMC-Dv2 version of SMC, which enables multi-subnet deployments. - Allow more calls to same peer in RxRPC. - Support two new Controller Area Network (CAN) protocols - CAN-FD and ISO 15765-2:2016. - Add xfrm/IPsec compat layer, solvin
