[ Upstream commit 239df3e4b4752524e7c0fb3417c218d8063654b4 ] The header bits/wordsize.h is glibc specific and on building on musl with allyesconfig results in samples/mei/mei-amt-version.c:77:10: fatal error: bits/wordsize.h: No such file or directory 77 | #include <bits/wordsize.h> | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ mei-amt-version.c build file without bits/wordsize.h on musl and glibc. However on musl we get the follwing error without sys/time.h samples/mei/mei-amt-version.c: In function 'mei_recv_msg': samples/mei/mei-amt-version.c:159:24: error: storage size of 'tv' isn't known 159 | struct timeval tv; | ^~ samples/mei/mei-amt-version.c:160:9: error: unknown type name 'fd_set' 160 | fd_set set; | ^~~~~~ samples/mei/mei-amt-version.c:168:9: error: implicit declaration of function 'FD_ZERO' [-Wimplicit-function-declaration] 168 | FD_ZERO(&set); | ^~~~~~~ samples/mei/mei-amt-version.c:169:9: error: implicit declaration of function 'FD_SET'; did you mean 'L_SET'? 2021-08-01samples: mei: don't wait on read completion upon write.Alexander Usyskin1-21/+30
The original mei driver communication was strictly write command and receive response flow, the completion of write was determined when response was ready using select(). This paradigm is a long time not true. There can be write without a response and an unsolicited read. The driver is capable of handling those. Adjust also the sample code and remove select() on read() from the write flow. Add select to the read flow to showcase how to do the read with a timeout. 2020-06-15samples: mei: Replace zero-length array with flexible-arrayGustavo A. R. Silva1-1/+1
There is a regular need in the kernel to provide a way to declare having a dynamically sized set of trailing elements in a structure. Kernel code should always use “flexible array members”[1] for these cases. The older style of one-element or zero-length arrays should no longer be used[2]. 2016-09-23samples: move misc-devices/mei example code from DocumentationShuah Khan1-0/+479
Move misc-devices/mei examples to samples/mei and remove it from Documentation Makefile. Delete misc-devices/Makefile. Create a new Makefile to build samples/mei. It can be built from top level directory or from mei directory: Run make -C samples/mei or cd samples/mei; make Acked-by: Jonathan Corbet <corbet@lwn.net> Acked-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Acked-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Shuah Khan <shuahkh@osg.samsung.com>
