2024-08-21powerpc/code-patching: Add boot selftest for data patchingBenjamin Gray1-0/+41
Extend the code patching selftests with some basic coverage of the new data patching variants too. 2024-05-08powerpc/code-patching: Test patch_instructions() during bootBenjamin Gray1-0/+92
patch_instructions() introduces new behaviour with a couple of variations. Test each case of * a repeated 32-bit instruction, * a repeated 64-bit instruction (ppc64), and * a copied sequence of instructions for both on a single page and when it crosses a page boundary. 2021-12-23powerpc/code-patching: Replace patch_instruction() by ppc_inst_write() in ↵Christophe Leroy1-40/+45
selftests The purpose of selftests is to check that instructions are properly formed. Not to check that they properly run. For that test it uses normal memory, not special test memory. In preparation of a future patch enforcing patch_instruction() to be used only on valid text areas, implement a ppc_inst_write() instruction which is the complement of ppc_inst_read(). This new function writes the formated instruction in valid kernel memory and doesn't bother about icache. 2021-12-23powerpc/code-patching: Move code patching selftests in its own fileChristophe Leroy1-0/+357
Code patching selftests are half of code-patching.c. As they are guarded by CONFIG_CODE_PATCHING_SELFTESTS, they'd be better in their own file. Also add a missing __init for instr_is_branch_to_addr() Signed-off-by: Christophe Leroy <christophe.leroy@csgroup.eu> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/c0c30504f04eb546a48ff77127a8bccd12a3d809.1638446239.git.christophe.leroy@csgroup.eu
