2023-10-10s4-echo: Remove the "echo" server (port 7, RFC 862) in production buildsAndrew Bartlett1-1/+1
This demonstration should never be enabled in production, if echo service is required other software is far better positioned to provide it. Reflection attacks on echo are a known issue. This is removed for consistency with the removal of rpcecho, but was never enabled in the default smb.conf so is mostly harmless. Signed-off-by: Andrew Bartlett <abartlet@samba.org>

2019-07-16s4 echo_server: Enable prefork process modelGary Lockyer1-1/+1
Enable the prefork process model, for the echo server. This is allows it to be used in the prefork_restart tests. Signed-off-by: Gary Lockyer <gary@catalyst.net.nz> Reviewed-by: Andreas Schneider <asn@samba.org>
2018-11-01source4 smdb: Add a post fork hook to the service APIGary Lockyer1-7/+11
Add a post fork hook to the service API this will be called: - standard process model immediately after the task_init. - single process model immediately after the task_init - prefork process model, inhibit_pre_fork = true immediately after the task_init - prefork process model, inhibit_pre_fork = false after each service worker has forked. It is not run on the service master process. The post fork hook is not called in the standard model if a new process is forked on a new connection. It is instead called immediately after the task_init. The task_init hook has been changed to return an error code. This ensures the post_fork code is only run if the task_init code completed successfully. Signed-off-by: Gary Lockyer <gary@catalyst.net.nz>

2017-10-19source4/smbd: Do not overstamp the process model with "single"Gary Lockyer1-23/+4
Instead, except in RPC which is a special SNOWFLAKE, we rely on the struct service_details in the init function. Signed-off-by: Gary Lockyer <gary@catalyst.net.nz> Reviewed-by: Andrew Bartlett <abartlet@samba.org> Reviewed-by: Garming Sam <garming@catalyst.net.nz>
2017-10-19 source4/smbd: refactor the process model for preforkGary Lockyer1-1/+5
Refactor the process model code to allow the addition of a prefork process model. - Add a process context to contain process model specific state - Add a service details structure to allow service to indicate which process model options they can support. In the new code the services advertise the features they support to the process model. The process model context is plumbed through to allow the process model to keep track of the supported options, and any state the process model may require. 2017-04-22lib: modules: Change XXX_init interface from XXX_init(void) to ↵Jeremy Allison1-2/+2
XXX_init(TALLOC_CTX *) Not currently used - no logic changes inside. This will make it possible to pass down a long-lived talloc context from the loading function for modules to use instead of having them internally all use talloc_autofree_context() which is a hidden global. Updated all known module interface numbers, and added a WHATSNEW. 2012-06-15lib/param: Create a seperate server role for "active directory domain ↵Andrew Bartlett1-1/+1
controller" This will allow us to detect from the smb.conf if this is a Samba4 AD DC which will allow smarter handling of (for example) accidentially starting smbd rather than samba. To cope with upgrades from existing Samba4 installs, 'domain controller' is a synonym of 'active directory domain controller' and new parameters 'classic primary domain controller' and 'classic backup domain controller' are added. 2012-05-23Introduce system MIT krb5 build with --with-system-mitkrb5 option.Alexander Bokovoy1-1/+2
System MIT krb5 build also enabled by specifying --without-ad-dc When --with-system-mitkrb5 (or --withou-ad-dc) option is passed to top level configure in WAF build we are trying to detect and use system-wide MIT krb5 libraries. As result, Samba 4 DC functionality will be disabled due to the fact that it is currently impossible to implement embedded KDC server with MIT krb5. Thus, --with-system-mitkrb5/--without-ad-dc build will only produce * Samba 4 client libraries and their Python bindings * Samba 3 server (smbd, nmbd, winbindd from source3/) * Samba 3 client libraries In addition, Samba 4 DC server-specific tests will not be compiled into smbtorture. This in particular affects spoolss_win, spoolss_notify, and remote_pac rpc tests.
2011-06-20libcli/util Rename common map_nt_error_from_unix to avoid duplicate symbolAndrew Bartlett1-2/+2
The two error tables need to be combined, but for now seperate the names. (As the common parts of the tree now use the _common function, errmap_unix.c must be included in the s3 autoconf build).
